The Pit Bull – Friend or Foe?

Is the pit bull terrier genetically different from other races? Are they born to fight? In Britain, pit bulls are considered dangerous creatures. government ministers of Great Britain want to ban race altogether.1 The objective Principal for a pit bull is not to protect the family against the dangers As for the Rottweiler and Doberman pincers that have been bred to guard their owners. ¹ advocates believe that the dog is as harmless as any other dog, but this may not be the case. They say the owners who have dogs pit bulls have been acting this way. Pit bulls were genetically selected to become fighting dogs. Pit bulls head and structure bone to allow them to attack, fight and kill other dogs. ¹

According to The Economist, when we talk about why a dog May be dangerous, one can speculate scientifically chemicals found in the body in general, that encourage dogs in May There are some chemicals and mechanisms that are in the body that triggers an attack called RAS or Reticular Activating System. In this system is a chemical called L-tyrosine is found, which sends nerve signals to the nerve. This chemical can be genetically modified by breeding. Dogs which have high levels of L-tyrosine attack more easily. It is suggested that pit bulls have this genetic material. ¹ Not only does it increase attack but diverts the attention of a dog to feel pain, if a dog attack in May for several minutes even if someone tries to hit or make them release their victims. In an attack by some pit Bull attacked someone for 15 minutes. There was a girl and adults who tried to help him do not beat dogs, even if the animal has started to bleed. ¹

This deviation from the Pain is also a reason why pit bulls attack in May. Usually, if the dogs are in combat, they are reluctant to fight the dog, but are not pit bulls. This may be related to endorphins, which may decrease the sensation of pain. But of course endorphins and its man-made sister morphine, which is an analgesic, addictive. The pit bull may be seeking to eliminate the means to increase endorphins, entering combat in order to receive endorphins, which are also at a level higher than normal. They are seeking ways to increase the pain to get the endorphins, which are made by the fighting. ¹ This sensitivity seems to run more in the pit bulls because of their reaction to receiving anesthesia. Not only they receive endorphins, they receive a higher amount than other dogs. It is like morphine to humans, it becomes an addiction dogs, and they seem to want to fight to relieve these cravings.1

In Britain, before the dog was popular, the pit bull used to be reformed so that someone, therefore, unnatural change the behavior of the genetically bred by cutting off the dogs with a tendency to attack. Since the pit bull is now looking for an animal, slaughter has declined, creating a dog attack that GM will attack more often than normal. ¹ owners have some responsibility for aggressive pit bulls. In a pack of dogs, there is always an alpha male who is in charge to be the attacker or attacking. When a household, the dog may become the dominant male and not the owner, resulting in the dog attack. It is recommended to teach young dogs to be submissive and obedient, but in the case of pit bulls that May did not work. ¹

Some races dogs are sometimes made famous by the film. Film Lianne George, the author asserts that a typical case was about Disney Dalmatians. She said everyone went to buy one because of the movie and soon made a dalmatian temperament was not as docile as those in the film. ² This also occurred with Doberman pinscher. As fashion is lacking, then no breed of dog. In the case of Dobermans, Diane Jessup, an officer of Animal Control Canine and historian based in Washington, says, "Now you hardly ever see them." ² day dog breed of choice is now pit bulls. We see in rap videos and cross the street without owners in sight. They are seen walking the streets in neighborhoods where they are considered valuables. People now fear ² most because of all the attacks that are made public. ² In Canada, pit bulls are now forbidden to be high, and those owners should be muzzled when outside. This is the first time a race is prohibited for more of an entire province. According to Attorney General Michael Bryant, there are those who think like him, that pit bulls are "time bombs". ² There are those who deal daily with animals who think it's all based on media hype. Pit bulls have always been the black sheep dogs. ² They use the U.S. through advertisements, and have been examples of strength of America. Any other use of pit bulls Image has been in ads for Buster Brown and the Little Rascals series. But now pit bulls are considered a liability, and are now the most dog abused in the United States. pit bulls are chained for most of their lives.

In Ontario, Canada, a law was passed which prohibited Pit bulls in the province after several attacks. One of the stipulations of the law is that it includes all breeds of pit bulls, but not all breeds of pit bulls are not necessarily dangerous. ² A doctor in Ontario, Canada, Dr. Gary Landsberg, a veterinarian in Ontario and president of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, says that even if race has been eliminated, the people or the owners would switch to different dogs ². In Winnipeg, that's exactly what happened. Pit bulls are banned and the attacks have decreased, but Rottwieler and German shepherd attacks have increased. Landsberg says that "people who want to reproduce and / or owning a vicious dog, it will simply turn to other breeds. ² Pit bulls are abusing people to make them more behaviorally average. ² "If you knew what these dogs go through, You'd be surprised that there was not inevitable pit bull any day of the week. "said Diane Jessup, a former officer of Animal Control. She does not believe pit bulls are wicked by nature, but are made by the owners of this improperly. Population ² Jessup as trying to create laws that punish fairer abusive and non-owners who have a pit bull related dogs are not aggressive ².

(Statistics by Karen Delise Fatal Dog Attacks "1965-2001) ³

Jimmie Mae McConnell Kansas City was a woman who fears for his safety its own home.5 She was killed when a neighbor's two pit bulls attacked her while she was gardening. His final plea is a phone Appeal to his son-in-law to call the police. She died in a local hospital shortly after. One of her friends said that McConnell said that "[T] he one of those days, these dogs will get me." 5 A dog has been pacified and another document from a neighbor after obtaining a search warrant. 5 Most households in this region said that the dogs belonged to those neighbors who were nearby. Although Police did not identify the breed of dogs, most neighbors agreed that they were pit bulls, which are not allowed in Kansas City, Kansas. 5

The Center for Disease Control "states of State Legislatures' newspaper that 12 people were killed and 5 million bitten by year.4 makers in at least 29 states have laws dealing with dangerous dogs. Most states establish these laws, after a trial in court with an agent of animals présent4 In Ohio, all pit bulls are banned. Usually, a dog in any other state would be prohibited if it attacked someone, but not because of what race he is, as in Ohio.4 In other states it is illegal to ban a dog because of his race, but Denver, Colorado is fighting to exactly that. They managed to overturn the law stipulates that prohibits breed specific legislation. 4 At that time, most states have enacted a law that shields owners from liability for dog bites at first, but makes them responsible for the second and. 4

Dog Attack Laws

As previously mentioned, Colorado has annulled a law of a State made in 2004 to ban specific dog breed. The law was rescinded after a child aged 3 and 59 years old Minister were killed.6 At that time, any Pit Bull Dog-related or even a dog that resembles a pit bull will be euthanized. 6 Many other states are thinking about following Online. 6

This approach has generated some controversy. Two hundred or more pit – bull type dogs were euthanized in Houston.7 This type of legislation has grown more widespread. For example, the consequences of owning a pit bull severe sanctions, or the state ban the breed. 7 Statutes of Houston, which took place in August 2006, which included the establishment of fines for owners and a ban on pit bulls, has created the most large number of dogs euthanized ever. 7 Many states, including California will not ban dogs based on race. Due to the mutilation of McConnell in Kansas and 3 men in Missouri, two states are considering following the example of Ohio and the banning of breeds States Janna Goodwin of the Conference National State Legislatures. 7 Ledy VanKavage, a lawyer with the ASPCA, states that they want to protect people against dangerous dogs, but labeling pit bull dogs that evil is not just "any dog can bite. 7 cities take action against pit bulls with less severe. Ron Boyer, deputy director of health in Missouri, states that their plan is to have all registered pit bulls. Was in response to a number of children who had been wounded. He asserts that this requirement is "an immediate mechanism to deal with the problem. "7 The Council of Kansas City, MO created a law in Missouri, which may have a non-lethal to dogs, such as having have them altered, or owner with putting up fences and discs that get puppies from that dog. Other states have followed suit, including Kansas and Illinois. The governor of Missouri believes this will create tougher laws for those who own pit bulls. But Shawn Webster, a veterinarian and state representative in Ohio, says pit bulls are not genetically predisposed to attacks, and said they are 'pet family' .7

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh conducted a study and found that not only have states began to adopt laws that prohibit certain breeds of dogs, but the insurance companies too. In 1996, a company well known insurance State Farm has given 80 billion dollars to people who had been attacked by dogs, 30% of all medical expenses. This has led in turn the insurance companies not to provide assurance to the owners of attack dogs belly. They said that the media has created the idea that some dogs are inherently vicious.8 An article in American Law Reports Fourth states that some dogs pit bull is the enemy of mankind's natural … and are never completely predictable. "8 In Lynn town in Massachusetts, Lynn ordinance was passed which stated that all pit bulls should be strictly regulated. Yet it was not possible for agents to control animals and owners identify directly what kind of pit bulls are vicious or not. There are different types of pit bulls, including the American Staffordshire, Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, or any mixture thereof. "8 But these dogs are difficult to appoint as a race and therefore the order of a State to provide limitation on owners of certain dogs was not lawful 8.

Courtney Frank, a spokesman for the Houston Humane Society said that "There was no redemption for pit bulls raised to fight." 7 Frank said it has increased the negative connotations that we think of when dealing with pit bulls (for example, kill people, etc.) Frank does not believe that dogs are inherently bad, but their owners were to blame for putting them in dog fights. More than half of U.S. states have some form of orders dealing with dangerous dogs according to the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. 7

Dog behavior

A dog psychologist, Cesar Millan, deals with dogs everyday. He grew up on a farm and was raised with a pack of dogs. Instead of blaming dogs, he criticizes their owners. He says he has to do with dogs spoiled by their owners, and in return the dogs are gone against them. Millan believes that dogs must be returned in their original packaging history oriented. It takes a group of dogs on walks in order to revive this, and tries to show them that the owner is in control, not them.9 Mordecai, and Margolis, author of a book on dog behavior aggressive state that dogs are family of wolves, and so do share some of their features. This includes the need for survival, dominance and territory.10

Dogfighting

The bones of pit bulls and greyhounds different? David Carrier, author of "Functional trade-offs in the limb bones of dogs … running from the fight against "the hypothesis that a type of bone May be for fighting, while another type of May to be running. He wondered had artificial selection caused by man this effect in dogs. He has assembled a team and decided to make sure. It has two bones of pit bulls and bones of greyhounds on a machine that would break the bone at a certain pressure. The results showed that the bones were less likely to greyhounds to break the bones of pit bull under pressure.10 other hand, bone pit bull absorbed twice more energy than greyhounds. Those pit bulls were of greater strength than greyhounds, so conclude that there were differences in bone structure. Bone structure was better for combat and one for best running.11

Conclusion

Pit bulls are friend or foe? Some owners believe unfit to abuse their dogs and why they attack others. Other people believe that the dog is a benefit to society. They are considered a genetic error, unable to be readmitted to the society, they are euthanized. Teaching any dog will fight dangerous to others. But are all bred pit bulls to fight? What about those which are not, and attack anyway? Pit bulls should then be considered inherently dangerous to people. Noting that the main victims of these attacks are young children, it should indeed be the security on the specific measures that will prevent these disasters from occurring. Should they be euthanized? This is probably against the law that deals with domestic animals and our relationship with them. Adults with small children should not allow this dog to live with them. On the other hand, if a person wishes to acquire one of these dogs should be allowed because even tigers and Wolves are home to some. With strict regulations and humane treatment, these dogs can be a part of our society, but should not be considered safe and non-threatening.
