AZ Arizona Palm Trees

Hockey: Why is it that so many who want more NHL teams in Canada/relocated dont know georaphy?

November 7th, 2009 Walter

People can have their opinions on where they would like to have NHL teams. Could those many i’m referring to try to get there geography straight first.

1. I keep seeing too many people here who want to see the Coyotes moved up north continue to think Arizona is a desert state when only 50% Of AZ is desert. Flagstaff Prescott, Kingman Sedona and Payson are many of Arizona’s cities not in the desert.
Mt Lemmon AZ is the USA’s most southern place for skiing.

2. I came across a Vancouver Canucks fan a couple of days ago who said he didn’t hockey to be places that have palm trees. Of course he got mad at me when I said that his favorite had to move based on his logic since there are palm trees in Vancouver.

From what I have learned , Canada does have desert too?

What interesting facts can you come up with hockey as it pertains to geography ?

  1. Yes Canada has desert.
The only geography that counts here is the proximity to Toronto and Buffalo means that there is no way that the Coyotes are moving to Hamilton and paying for infringement.
