Need Help Identifying a Palm Tree?
November 6th, 2009 WalterMy husband and I bought a small palm tree from Home Depot a couple of months ago and we have no idea what kind it is. Maybe someone can help.
It is very small (looks like something you would plant in your walk way or something).
It has leaves that look just like a Pigmy Date Palm (as a matter of fact my mother-in-law thought is was a bunch of tiny Pigmy Date Palms all in one pot)
I remember looking at the tag when we bought it and I think it started with a “P”
It cost us only about $10 to purchase.
If you can help identify this thing I would be so happy. Please know I have learned my lesson about buying things I haven’t ever heard of. Ha!
I know for a fact it isn’t a Sago. We have one of those too and this dosen’t look like it in the slightest.
Maybe it is a date palm…

If the name began with a “P” was it Phoenix roebelenii? If so, this is a pygmy date palm, just another name for it.
