Would you tip less if a waitress spilled your coffee and left the cup covered in it?
A waitress brought 3 of us coffee with dessert. When she set it down, mine spilled all over the table and the cup. She wiped up the table, but left the cup sloppy dripping wet covered in coffee .This was a $70 dinner, not a cafe. I felt like I should have gotten a clean, dry cup. I left a 15% tip rather than 20.
I still left a good tip. It was a major spill and there was
coffee dripping all over the sides.
I would not have tipped at all, but then again, I am in Australia and tipping here is not customary, it is usually only done if the service received was exceptional. Obviously, in this case the service was not.
