Are Garter Snakes dangerous to cats?
I was mowing the lawn today when I found a snkae in a tree. It was about a yard long and from what I could tell a darkish green color. My friends, dad, and brother all say it was probably a garter snake and in the tree because of the bird nest in it. My dad said it could possibly live under the deck and i automatically remember seeing my cat prowling around under there more than once.
Now, my cat is an outdoor cat.
Always has been.
And I was wondering just how much danger he’s in. There’s another cat in the neighborhood and he’s beaten my cat more than once.
I know that garter snakes are no harm to humans but I’m still worried about my cat.
Garter snakes aren’t nearly as dangerous to cats as cats are to them. (many cats are excellent snake-killers despite their skill {or lack thereof} at defending themselves from other cats).
