A Hawaiian Wedding Can Be Unique As Well As Beautiful

When deciding on the details for your Hawaiian wedding, the most important part of the process is deciding where to have your ceremony. After that, you’re free to find ways to make your event unique. From the addition of local customs to interesting décor, there are many ways to add a unique beauty to your wedding.

A wonderful way to make your day even more special is to adopt some local customs. Hawaiian traditions include arriving at a beach wedding in an outrigger canoe and having the ceremony inside a circle of flowers. While leis have become somewhat expected on the islands, they are actually an important part of Hawaiian weddings and a wonderful way to greet your guests. Having part of your vows exchanged in Hawaiian is another lovely touch.

Consider using local flowers for your wedding. Hawaii is filled with gorgeous blossoms and while flowers of all kinds are flown in to the islands, the local flowers have a grace and beauty that fits well with weddings on the island. Consider adding ferns and feathers to your flower arrangements to add a special feel or use some of the many tropical fruits in your arrangements.

A luau is one of the traditions that a Hawaiian wedding almost has to have. Starting with a traditional roasted pig is a memorable way to begin your reception dinner and the abundant fruits of the island make incredible desserts. One of the wonderful things about a luau is that there is always enough to eat for everyone.

While it’s usually traditional to have your reception indoors consider a party on the beach. Encourage everyone to change and provide snorkeling equipment. Set up a volleyball net and rent a glass bottom boat for the afternoon. When night comes, light a bonfire and let your guests dance the night away.

Include local hand made crafts as part of your wedding décor. Decorated gourds, hand carved Tikis, and clay pots are all lovely choices for your guests’ tables. Beautiful woven baskets and bowls as well as carved shells are also lovely options.

Your wedding is your time to shine. Consider the many options available for your wedding details and see if any of the local traditions or supplies can add a sense of unique beauty to your special day.
